Week 7 Booms

With tonight's game between the Jets and Patriots scheduled to be a blowout, I'm going to be talking about the guys that boomed yesterday and helped win fantasy weeks. This was the first week I've won in all three leagues and I had only one of these guys, so I'm mostly crediting these wins to bad weeks by my opponents, but a win is a win. Anyways, here are the guys who put up 30+ PPR points this week and their chance to keep it going.

Aaron Rodgers (QB Packers) - Last week, my friend dropped Rodgers for Gardner Minshew. And guess who picked him up? 6 touchdowns and almost 44 fantasy points later, it's quite obvious that that was a good move on my part. In a very illustrious career, last week's performance by Rodgers was among his best all time with 429 yards, 5 TDs through the air, and another on the ground. You can't really bet against this guy and when he gets Davante Adams back soon, I can't see A-Rod as anything less than a top 3 QB.

Marvin Jones Jr. (WR Lions) - For a quarterback, 4 touchdowns is a solid game that often wins matchups, but for a skill position, 4 TDs are borderline impossible. You'll see guys pick up 3 touchdowns in the first half and then get game planned out of the game in the second, but Marvin Jones Jr. kept producing all game long. Racking up 10 catches, 93 yards, and the insane 4 receiving TDs for 43.3 PPR points, Jones Jr. likely won a whole lot of matchups this week for fantasy owners. Jones Jr. has been very volatile in his career and had only 1 touchdowns coming into this week, so temper expectations going forward, but this week showed owners that you can NEVER bench Marvin Jones Jr.

Chase Edmonds (RB Cardinals) - This one hurts for David Johnson owners. Coming into the game, it looked like DJ was in for a workhorse role, but it was only until after Edmonds' monster game that Kliff Kingsbury told the media that David Johnson would only play in an emergency. This led to an extremely low start percentage to Edmonds, but he rewarded those who started him with 27 carries for 126 tards and 3 TDs (35 PPR points). I can't see him putting up big numbers once DJ returns, but its looking like both backs will put up startable stats going forward.

Latavius Murray (RB Saints) - Like Edmonds, Murray got the start due to injury, in this case because of Alvin Kamara's high ankle sprain. Murray was a lock to put up solid RB2 numbers, but he rewarded the many fantasy owners who started him with 150 scrimmage yards, 5 catches, and 2 TDs. The 32 PPR points were higher than his season total and there is reason to believe he will keep it rolling next week against the depleted Cardinals after lighting up the powerhouse Bears. It's looking like Alvin Kamara will miss another week and if he does, Murray is once again a locked and loaded RB1.

Darren Waller (TE Raiders) - Darren Waller is officially an elite tight end after another solid performance. Despite a modest target total (8 targets), he turned it into 7 catches for 126 yards and 2 TDs. Transforming into Derek Carr's most reliable target and earning a huge extension because of it, Darren Waller is a no brainer top 3 tight end with the Big Three (Ertz, Kittle, Kelce) and is right now the top fantasy tight end in the league. If you were hesitant to start him next week for some reason, don't get cute. He's giving you an advantage at the position every week.
